The season ends on a quiet note after several years of impacts on the Big Bend and South Georgia. In total, there were 13 named storms. Five storms were hurricanes. Those storms were Erin, Humberto and Melissa, which was the last named storm of the Atlantic season. Hurricane Melissa was the third strongest Atlantic storm on record based on central pressure.
